Maria Edina Carvalho Portinari

Graduated from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC) in 1985.

Specialized in intellectual Property (Attorney-at-Law and Patent and Trademark Attorney). Is also involved in the areas of Copyright, Licensing, Entertainment Rights, Industrial Property, both in the administrative and in the litigation aspects.

Main activities include consultancy, prosecution and litigation; drafting, examining and reviewing license, copyright, know-how and confidentiality agreements; software protection; domain names, involving both protection and litigation; administrative law; civil liability; consumer law; competition/trade dress issues;

Former partner of two important law offices in Brazil, is currently partner of PORTINARI, TIEDEMANN BARRETO & ADVOGADOS ASSOCIADOS.

Academic experience as Law Professor at Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV/RJ) and at the Superior Law School (Escola Superior de Advocacia), OAB/SP- 2009 (Copyright)

Co-author of the book “Comments about the Industrial Property Law”, Brazil, Renovar Editor, 2005.

Invited speaker in national and international events, including ESAJ - Escola Superior de Administração Judiciária (Superior Judiciary Administration College), March/2009.
